Turn Your Land into Income: Earn Lakhs with Kerala’s Tree Bank Scheme

No expense at all, if you own land, the government will pay you! Earn lakhs in 15 years.

To encourage tree cultivation, the Forest Department has launched the Tree Bank Project. Under this scheme, individuals who plant trees on their private land will receive financial assistance from the government. Those who plant the tree species specified by the government will be eligible for financial support for up to 15 years. After the completion of the project period, landowners will be granted permission by the Social Forestry Division Office to cut down the trees. The primary goal of the project is to increase the state’s forest cover.

Membership details:
Individuals who own land or have leasehold rights for at least 15 years are eligible to join the project. The trees to be planted include sandalwood, teak, rosewood, jackfruit, wild jack, tamarind, mahogany, anjili (Artocarpus hirsutus), kumbil (Gmelina arborea), karimaruthu (Terminalia paniculata), white teak and vitti, among others.

Interested individuals should submit their application to the Social Forestry Range Officer. A minimum of 10 saplings must be planted. During registration, an agreement will be signed with the Forest Department.

Financial assistance will begin from the third year onward and continue for up to 15 years, provided proper maintenance is done. Every year, during June and July, the Social Forestry nurseries will distribute saplings free of cost.
