LAND RECLASSIFICATION: FEE-FREE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO THE NEW BENEFICIARY.

Thiruvananthapuram: According to the provisions of the Paddy Field Wetland Protection Act, the new owner will not get a free land reclassification fee of less than 25 cents. The Revenue Department has issued an order clarifying this matter. The order states that if the land with an area of less than 25 cents is transferred before December 30, 2017, then the new owner will not be entitled to a free change of type. The explanation is that since December 30, 2017, freehold has been allowed for land not exceeding 25 cents, and in this case, no freehold should be allowed if the land is acquired through transfer.  (6 May 2022)
