CLEAN KERALA COMPANY BOUNCE TO RECORD

21.35 LAKHS KG OF WASTE WAS COLLECTED IN DECEMBER

 

Trivandrum : The operation of Clean Kerala Company under the state government to collect and dispose of inorganic waste including plastic, has reached a record level. In December 2022, the company collected and processed 21.35 lakhs kg of waste from households and institutions through Harita Karma Sena. 12,134.45 kg shredded plastic was produced from the 6,38,049.11 kg of received plastic. The amount of hazardous waste will be 16,224.29 kg and Electronic waste is 18,174.15 kg as much. The waste includes 32,347.7 kg of clothes, 640 kg of medicinal strips and 1.24 lakhs kg of waste together with chappal, bag and thermocol. 6.76 lakhs kg of waste which could not be treated or recycled in any way was sent to cement factories in other states. They will be burned in the farm there. Most of the waste collection has been completed in the districts including Thrissur ( 3.78 lakhs kg), Thiruvananthapuram (3.47 lakhs kg) and Kollam (2.10 lakhs kg). Thirty thousand members of Harita Karma Sena have received 55.32 lakhs rupees for collecting these plastic wastes. Thus the remuneration obtained so far this financial year is Rs. 3.75 crores. In the last 22 months, more than six and a half crore rupees have been received.
